The Osteria di San Cesario offers all the pleasures of a genuine, high-class cuisine, based on local tradition, skilfully interpreted by Mrs. Anna Dente Ferracci, assisted by her mother Maria Savina Dente and the whole family.
For more than fifty years, the Dente-Ferracci family has managed San Cesareo’s oldest butcher’s shop, the “Macelleria Emilio”, founded immediately after the war by Emilio Dente, a pork-butcher from Montecompatri and an excellent farmer. Indeed, starting from the ‘fifties, he was one of the main promotors of the development of the Labicana area, which includes the townships of Colonna, Montecompatri and San Cesareo, to produce highly specialised vegetables, fruit and wine, for years the region’s main economic drive.
Since 1995, the Dente-Ferracci family has added to these activities the running of a restaurant, aiming at offering its customers a “market cuisine”, by guaranteeing the quality of its raw materials, which are prepared according to the gastronomic traditions of the old Roman Campagna, since “a people’s cuisine is an expression of its civilisation and is a direct part of its cultural values”.
